\"Reserve<\/p>\n

Il est plus facile d\u2019aimer ses voisins comme soi-m\u00eame lorsqu\u2019on choisit les bons voisins! Le Nichoir est extr\u00eamement chanceux d\u2019\u00eatre juste \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 d\u2019un petit, mais inestimable, bijou naturel, la R\u00e9serve naturelle Clarke Sydenham. Propri\u00e9t\u00e9 de Conservation de la nature Canada, ce site de 47 acres jouxte Le Nichoir, et il est pour ce dernier le havre id\u00e9al o\u00f9 rel\u00e2cher plusieurs de ses oiseaux.<\/p>\n

Malgr\u00e9 sa taille modeste, la r\u00e9serve poss\u00e8de des habitats tr\u00e8s divers, for\u00eats anciennes, champs, \u00e9tangs temporaires, et comporte une impressionnante vari\u00e9t\u00e9 faunique et floristique. Elle abrite quelques-uns des oiseaux les plus color\u00e9s, tels le passerin indigo (Passerina<\/em> cyanea<\/em>) et le piranga \u00e9carlate (Piranga<\/em> olivacea<\/em>). La R\u00e9serve naturelle Clarke Sydenham est aussi une aire d\u2019alimentation pour certains insectivores a\u00e9riens en d\u00e9clin tels que le martinet ramoneur (Ch<\/em>\u00e6<\/em>tura pelagica<\/em>) et l\u2019hirondelle rustique (Hirundo rustica<\/em>), qui nichent \u00e0 proximit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

L\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, pour consolider cette relation symbiotique avec sa voisine, Le Nichoir s\u2019est lanc\u00e9 dans un projet de promotion de la r\u00e9serve et de ses tr\u00e9sors. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des subventions de la Fondation Hydro-Qu\u00e9bec pour l\u2019environnement et de la Fondation de la faune du Qu\u00e9bec, nous avons entrepris de concevoir, de produire et d\u2019installer le long des sentiers de la r\u00e9serve six panneaux d\u2019interpr\u00e9tation des habitats et des esp\u00e8ces aviaires. Un autre volet de ce projet, a \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u2019\u00e9laboration d\u2019une carte d\u00e9taill\u00e9e, et \u00e0 jour, du r\u00e9seau de sentiers de la r\u00e9serve. Pour ce faire, six \u00e9tudiants de McGill ont, dans le cadre d\u2019un projet de recherche environnementale, sillonn\u00e9 tous les sentiers de cette r\u00e9serve.<\/p>\n
