It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of our four co-founders, Denise Paquette. Denise’s vision, dedication and love for birds were instrumental in shaping Le Nichoir into the organization it is today. Her contributions live on as Le Nichoir continues to provide wild birds with the high-quality care they need to heal and grow. In her memory, a tree was planted at Le Nichoir by her closest friends.
By following in our founders’ footsteps, Le Nichoir has created an extensive body of knowledge, uniquely suited to the needs of wild bird patients, that continues to grow through experience as it is put into practice every day. Our top priority is always to ensure the safety of our team, the birds and the public.
Safety is very much on our minds these days. With cases of Avian Influenza still killing wild birds in Quebec, we are closed to on-site visitors, disappointing those who would like to visit. However, implementing these measures has allowed us to continue to accept birds in need and minimize the risk of closing our doors due to an outbreak. We will be sure to keep you posted about any changes to this policy as the situation improves.
