May 8th is World Migratory Bird Day, a day for raising awareness about the migratory birds and how they connect people across the globe. Did you know that 40 % of Canada’s birds migrate to Mexico, Central America, and South America? Another 30% of Canadian species move to the United States, while 7% winter at sea or on other continents. Migratory bird conservation can only be achieved if we all work together.

This year’s theme is “Sing, Fly, Soar” – like a bird, of course. To celebrate, Le Nichoir has organized a virtual trivia night. You don’t need to be an expert ornithologist to participate! Our team has prepared different questions for novice and experienced nature lovers. This will be a great opportunity to test your knowledge of bird identification, pop culture, history, and wild bird conservation but, especially, to have fun and learn a lot about local birds!

We have two virtual events lined up:

In English: Thursday May 6, 2021, at 7 p.m.

In French: Saturday May 8, 2021, at 7 p.m.

Registration is mandatory! Register here before April 26, 2021, at 11:59pm

You can participate alone, or as a team of 2 to 5 people. On the registration page, please indicate:

  • The names of the people you wish to be team up with
  • If you would like us to match you with other participants or wish to participate solo

Looking for more ways to celebrate?  Le Nichoir has also collaborated with Totem Roasters to develop a series of creative educational activities to learn about some of our amazing migratory birds and how you can help them.  Download the activities here:
