This past year was a busy one for our volunteers and staff. Our team takes pride in the professional and compassionate care that it provides to our avian patients. Here are some interesting statistics we wanted to share:

  • 2,535 birds admitted from 104 different species (a 9% increase from 2023)
  • Species diversity was one of the lowest in 12 years, indicating reduced species richness
  • 83.5% of admissions occurred between May and August
  • 66% decline in admissions of listed species (threatened or special concern) compared to 7 years ago
  • Birds were brought in from 195 different municipalities across Quebec
  • Leading causes of human-related injuries: cat attacks followed by window collisions
  • Average 22–24 days of care per bird before release
