Working in wildlife rehabilitation is unpredictable, and you can never anticipate what will fly through Le Nichoir’s doors. This is why the spring campaign, donations made towards the gulls,  and general donations given throughout the year play such a significant role in supporting our wild bird care program, and allows us to focus on what is most important, the birds.

The season began early with very young Common ravens.  It was a sign that the “busy” season would start earlier than usual. Since May,  973 nestlings and fledglings along with 401 ducklings and precocial chicks have come to Le Nichoir for care. Many a result of being abandoned, injured or orphaned. Some include: two Eastern kingbirds with no parents, and a Cliff Swallow with significant nutritional deficiencies illegally raised by an individual.
